River Houses |
These houses are actually floating right on the lake. |

Parking Lot |
The best way to describe this photo is a "boat parking lot." In the background is a hill that overlooks the lake. Other than that hill, the Siem Reap is very flat. |

And then I met some kids . . . |
So after taking the photos you see above, some kids got curious and starting approaching us. |

....more kids |
After seeing the boys come over, these two girls overcame their shyness and walked over as well. |

more and more . . . |
Now there was no shyness and each time I took a photo more kids came! This being August 2001, digital cameras were still pretty new so when I showed the kids the photo of them I had just taken on the back of the camera, I got the sense it was the first time any of them had seen a photograph of themselves. |

Line up . . . |
So I thought, "ok, let's get some kind of good pose with all the kids in it." |

My favorite Cambodia photo |
So I got in this photo as Claire adeptly went behind the camera. I have rarely smiled in my adult life and meant it, but I can assure you that this time the smile on my face was sincere. |
