Day 1 -- Seoul to Auckland

Had a 1:40pm flight to Auckland departing Seoul on Thursday February 27, which didn't put me in Auckland until 12 Noon Auckland time on Friday the 28th. Had a good time chillin' at the Tokyo airport (Narita) using the ultra-portable Toshiba's at the Yahoo PC Room (free).

Day 2 -- Auckland

Rohan and Isabel kindly picked me up from the airport. Then they showed me around the city. Had a good veggie-burger for lunch and some nice Thai food for dinner. Capped it all off with a movie (Chicago).

My impressions of Auckland Airport: friendly staff at the airport; easy to pass through customs; helluva lot of places to buy 'cohol on your way out of the airport.

My first impressions of Auckland the city: lots and lots of GREEN everywhere, grass, trees, hills, parks--all very nice. Like the houses there too. Reminded of New England and Florida at the same time. I liked how all the restaurants had outdoor seating right on the sidewalks, and a very good selection of vegan eating around. However, by the end of the night, as we returned from the movie, as I saw all the drunk fools hanging outside clubs, acting like ignant fools, I was reminded too much of what I don't like about the party scenes in the West. I felt like it wasn't a city I would want to live in. However, that was after just one night and in one area (pretty much).

Spent the night in Isabel's apartment. It has a pretty swank layout, with three levels, a nice deck, and comfy carpeting. One huge drawback is it is at the bottom of an incredibly steep driveway.

Day 3 -- Auckland to Coromandel
